i.e. About these pages

• Most of these pages were created in Dreamweaver MX, and should be xhtml 1.0 transistional-ish.
• Older pages, especially those in the 'archives' section will adhere to no standard, and are a lesson in how not to code, design and proof read pages (why oh why do I leave them online)
• Photos online via fotopic.net who need to stop downgrading the quality of uploaded photos. Also via flickr (unoriginal but excellent)
• Blog using the wonderful wordpress
• Web hosting via Dreamhost. Was via freedom2surf until Oct 2007.

I live in Brighton, Sussex, UK. I work at the University of Sussex Library, as Technical Development Manager, which abbreviates to 'tee-dee-umm', which probably is a far more accurate job title.

I was born in Northampton, a place which instills a great longing to escape somewhere else in all who grow up there. I 'studied' at the University of Kent at Canterbury (now the University of Kent), and gained a degree in Computer Science (prolog still gives me bad dreams at night).

During my third year at UKC I worked part time at the University library providing IT support, their IT guy had just left and they needed someone to keep things ticking over. I was basically told to come in when I want, and do what was needed doing. I liked this, so on getting the degree mentioned above I started to work there full time as their Computer Officer.

In 2002 I decided that with a whole world out there, and so many different kinds if jobs, it seemed a shame to stay in the same small city doing the same job. So I went for a big life change.. by mving to near by Brighton to do an almost identical job as before. I am the last of the big adventurers (but hey, you get a good pension). In 2005 my job changed to work mainly on IT and web related projects with the library. Which is nice.
